[11/22/06] Sneak preview...new video script

At 77 years old, Adjartey is alone. His wife has died and a tumor isolates him from society. But Adjartey will not give up hope. He has come to Mercy Ships, seeking medical help. A bold step toward getting his life back. For 20 years his tumor has been growing. Having no money for surgery in a local hospital, Adjartey finally finds resolve aboard the hospital ship. Here surgeons will remove the tumor free of charge. With these tumors the longer they stay the bigger they get. So having it off will keep him from having more serious problems in the future and also make it a lot easier for him to function without being treated as different from anyone else. (Dr. Gary Parker, Surgeon)

Once a farmer and a village chief, Adjartey held a position of prestige and honor…until the growth appeared below his left ear. Adjartey went into hiding to escape the stares and ridicule. A few hours in the operating room and a few days on the ward, and Adjartey is ready to go home. He is greeted by family and neighbors, and they quickly see that he has changed. A broad smile and bright eyes replace the tumor. Adjartey has found the life he has longed for the past 20 years. He is a new man. The excitement is too great…I don’t know how to say thank you so I am giving all the thanks to God. (Adjartey Teinor, Patient)

With joy and confidence Adjartey is an inspiration to his community. He tells everyone not to let anything stop them from following their dreams. Old age never stopped him. At 77 Adjartey was an outcast and all alone, yet through Mercy Ships, God gave him another chance to start anew.
