Last weekend was Carnaval in Brazil, and to celebrate the four-day weekend, all the good kids headed off to church camp. So since some of my fellow English speakers were going, and since I wasn't the only "almost not a young person anymore" person, I decided it'd be OK to go too. It sure was nice to get out of the city for a few days. But I certainly didn't get away from my language studies. After listening to non-stop Portuguese and playing every imaginable outdoor game, I was totally mentally and physically beat. But happy. I made friends, learned new words, played soccer half-way decently and even had a little moment where God and I were speaking the same language. So it was worth it . . . or in Portuguese, "Valeu a pena!" [see pictures]
